‘The ANU Tax Clinic was a game-changer for me. I gained experiences to understand and solve different clients’ tax complexity under the detailed guidance of expertise, which truly made a difference in my career journey. Firstly, communicating with clients from diverse cultural backgrounds significantly enhanced my English proficiency, boosting my confidence when interacting with people. Secondly, local tax experiences have sharpened my skills, not only developing my interest in taxation and confirming my career path, but also helping me be more competitive in the job market. Thirdly, this was a valuable opportunity to learn Australian office etiquette and establish connections within the community—a chance that international students often lack.’

Carl, Intern 2023, Master of Accounting

‘I have discovered a genuine passion for this volunteer activity. The field of tax law fascinates me, and I thoroughly enjoy the interactions with both clients and mentors. Each appointment brings a profound sense of accomplishment, and I have gained significant insights from these experiences. As a graduate student majoring in accounting, I firmly believe that participating in the Tax Clinic not only enhances my professional expertise, but also nurtures my ability to collaborate effectively with others.’
